Nina Weitz is a Senior Research Fellow at SEI Headquarters in the Development Policy and Finance Team – Resources, Rights and Development Division.

Her work concerns how policy and institutions can respond in sustainable and just ways to the intertwined social, economic and environmental challenges that societies face. Her projects often focus on decision-support linked to global frameworks such as the UN’s 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this area, her experience includes analytical support to intergovernmental processes, methods and tools development for integrated decision-making, research on follow-up and review arrangements, and alignment of global and national sustainable development agendas.

Nina’s current projects focus on public accountability ecosystems and how these can be strengthened in a post-2030 Agenda, and on the use of imaginaries and arts-based methods in science-policy-society interactions. She co-leads the Post-2030 Initiative, convened by SEI and Monash University.

Between 2021-2025, Nina was Team Leader of the Global Goals and Systems team at SEI HQ, which thematically focused on SDG implementation and systems thinking. She is a political scientist by training, with a MSc in International Administration and Global Governance, BA in Political Science and BA in Environmental Social Science focused on environmental politics.
