Venni Arra is a Communications Officer at SEI Headquarters – Project Communications Unit.
She works primarily within projects in the Societal Transitions Unit at SEI Headquarters as well as with events and social media.
Venni holds a BSc in Geography from Stockholm University and an MSc in Climate Change from University College London (UCL) and has a good understanding of past, present and the future predictions of climate change.
In her dissertation she used state-of-the-art climate models (CMIP5/CMIP6) to investigate the changing features of a large-scale atmospheric pressure system in the North Atlantic under past and future climate states. In early 2020 she participated as an expert reviewer for the Second Order Draft of the Working Group I (WGI) contribution to the IPCC AR6: The Physical Science Basis.
In addition to her background in climate science, she has experience as an active member of an environmental youth NGO and as a youth delegate at UN Climate Change conferences. Venni has an interest in bridging the gap between science and society by communicating difficult climate messages in creative and effective ways to decision-makers and the general public.
