The strategy starts with the definition of various entry points in the supply chain including agricultural activities, planned expansion, and mobilization of the stakeholders that can serve as drivers in the process. It is highly important to consider the sustainability of the supply chain and synergies between agricultural and industrial sectors to guarantee a good balance between food and energy production, and optimize outputs together with reduced environmental impacts.
The strategy considers resources and technologies, infrastructure and logistics, regulatory framework, socio-economic and environmental benefits, and barriers to be addressed. International know-how, including Swedish and Brazilian experiences, are used in assessing the use of agricultural waste/residues as energy sources, and the agricultural and industrial linkages. The project will be developed in close collaboration with the Indonesian Agency for Agricultural Research and Development (IAARD).
