Thijs Van de Graaf and Harro van Asselt (2017). Introduction to the special issue: energy subsidies at the intersection of climate, energy, and trade governance. International Environmental Agreements: Politics, Law and Economics. 17(3). https://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10784-017-9359-8

The first theme highlights the importance of mapping and understanding the regime complex for energy subsidies.

The second theme links the international governance of energy subsidies to insights from international political economy research with a view to uncovering explanations for why and how energy subsidies are (not) being governed by the international trade regime.

The third theme considers the practical and policy relevance of the articles included in this special issue, and summarizes possible ways forward in the governance of energy subsidies.
