Achieving inclusive low-emission mobility in Indonesia

To mark the conclusion of the three-year collaboration under the Indonesia-UK PACT programme, SEI York at the University of York, in partnership with project collaborators, is hosting a closed knowledge-sharing event, bringing together experts, policymakers, and practitioners to share regional best practices for achieving inclusive low-emission mobility in Indonesia.

SEI York at the University of York, in partnership with Clean Air Asia and Indonesia’s Center for Transportation and Logistic Studies (PUSTRAL), is hosting a closed regional knowledge-sharing event to celebrate the successful completion of a three-year research collaboration under the Indonesia-UK PACT programme. The event will focus on exploring practical solutions, discussion strategies and building partnerships for achieving low-emission mobility in Indonesia.

Spanning three days, the event will showcase research from the Inclusive Low Carbon Transport in Indonesia project and highlight regional best practices that promote sustainable and inclusive transport systems. Experts, policymakers, and practitioners will come together to collaborate on strategies for decarbonising the transport sector while ensuring equity and inclusivity in the transition to low-emission mobility in Indonesia.

The event will be conducted in English and Bahasa Indonesia, with simultaneous interpretation provided throughout to ensure full accessibility for all participants.

Agenda highlights

Day 1: Low-emission mobility – Decarbonisation, Tactical Urbanism and behaviour change
The first day will focus on decarbonisation pathways, Tactical Urbanism approaches, and behaviour change in transport. Presentations from UK PACT portfolio projects and regional case studies will showcase successful approaches, followed by expert panel discussions addressing challenges and identifying solutions for advancing low-emission mobility.

Day 2: Leave no one behind – Participatory approaches, GESI in transport and active mobility
The second day will emphasise inclusivity in the transition to low-emission mobility. Sessions will cover participatory approaches, the role Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) in transport, and active mobility. Presentations will highlight regional best practices, with discussions focusing on strategies to ensure equitable access to sustainable transport systems.

Day 3: Financing for the future and moving to implementation
The final day will explore financing models and practical strategies for implementing low-emission mobility projects. Sessions will focus on transitioning from policy to action, with insights provided at local, national, and regional levels.
