Kenya is a leader in geothermal power. Now it’s helping its neighbours do the same

In an interview with TheWorld, SEI’s Anderson Kehbila discusses Kenya’s goal to generate all its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, with geothermal energy pivotal to achieving it. He also highlights how neighbouring countries like Ethiopia, Rwanda, and Tanzania could harness their geothermal potential.

Kenya generates about half of its electricity by harnessing the earth’s heat. Its neighbouring countries have the same underground resources, but almost no geothermal power. Now that is starting to change.

For The Big Fix, a weekly climate change solutions segment on TheWorld, host Carolyn Beeler chats with SEI’s Anderson Kehbila about this transition.
