SEI joins international seminar to celebrate 50th anniversary of Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute (CUSRI)

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute (CUSRI), SEI’s Diane Archer and Raja Asvanon will be speakers at an international seminar on 23 April.

Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute (CUSRI) is one of Chulalongkorn University’s and Thailand’s earliest research institutes on the social sciences. Originally founded under the Faculty of Political Science in 1967, it was subsequently promoted to an independent institute in accordance with the Royal Decree on the Establishment of the Chulalongkorn University Social Research Institute on 22 April 1974. The primary objective of CUSRI is conducting research to meet the needs of Thailand’s national development efforts with social science research as its basis.

SEI will join the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of CUSRI that include a Buddhist ceremony, launch of new initiatives for knowledge and innovation, and an international seminar on why social research matters. SEI Asia is an affiliate of CUSRI and Chulalongkorn University.

Day 1 – Celebrations for the 50th anniversary of CUSRI

  • Congratulations and Buddhist religious ceremony
  • Welcome by CUSRI Director

  • Afternoon tea talk: “I remember Chula” and we remember them

Day 2 – Launch of new centers and international seminar

  • Welcome by CUSRI Director
  • The new journey and the launch of new centers: Social Innovation Center, CUSRI Academy and Social Data Platform Center
  • Inside and insight: Annual review of our deep research
  • 10.00 am – International seminar (in English): “Making social research matter: how co-production of knowledge can create social transformation in the age of radical disruption”
