This introductory session invites York and North Yorkshire residents to find out more about the emerging Home Upgrade Champions network, part of the Unlocking retrofit uptake through community champions project.

The project explores how local champions, trusted advice and accessible finance can support home retrofit uptake in York and North Yorkshire. This event will introduce the aims of the project, explain what support is available for people interested in becoming Home Upgrade Champions, and offer an opportunity to ask questions and meet others with similar interests.
Home Upgrade Champions will help support local conversations about home energy upgrades, including ways to reduce energy use and bills, make homes healthier and more comfortable, and support more planet-friendly housing. The role does not require technical expertise in areas such as insulation, heat pumps or energy systems. Lived experience, local knowledge and community connections are just as valuable.
The event is open to York and North Yorkshire residents who are interested in supporting neighbours and communities to learn more about home energy upgrades and take practical steps towards improving their homes.
The in-person event will take place at Melbourne Terrace Methodist Church in York. A light vegetarian and vegan buffet will be provided.
Please book your place by Monday 13 July.
