The APMCDRR is the main regional platform in the Asia-Pacific region for promoting coordination and cooperation on disaster risk reduction and the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. This year’s event is hosted by the Australian Government and convened by United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
The theme for this year’s event is “From Crisis to Resilience: Transforming the Asia-Pacific Region’s future through disaster risk reduction”, offering a platform for SEI to share our insights and recommendations for enhancing resilience, reducing vulnerability and enabling meaningful and inclusive action on disaster risk reduction, in line with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
The APMCDRR will build on the outcomes of the 2022 Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction held in Indonesia in May this year, but with a specific focus on the Asia-Pacific Region. Read more about SEI’s participation in the 2022 Global Platform here.
SEI Asia’s Camille Pross will present on the Ignite Stage on Thursday 22 September 2022 from 12:50-13:05 on the role of women environmental defenders in transformative disaster risk reduction, sharing their lived experiences and demonstrating how various strategies adopted can be upscaled for more inclusive, effective and transformative disaster risk reduction.
SEI will also showcase our work at the Marketplace Booth on human rights and gender equality in disaster risk reduction, jointly organized by a consortium of partners under the Building resilience through inclusive and climate-adaptive disaster risk reduction in Asia-Pacific (BRDR) programme.
