SEI Asia’s Camille Pross and Dayoon Kim will participate in the second Asia-Pacific Environmental Human Rights Defenders Forum in Bangkok from 25 to 27 October 2022.
The Asia-Pacific Environmental Human Rights Defenders (EHRDs) Forum aims to support the vital role of environmental human rights defenders as champions of a just and sustainable future. The Forum, held in a hybrid format, will provide a safe space for environmental defenders and their allies to discuss successes, challenges and priorities for the Asia-Pacific region.
The event is jointly organized by the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Regional Offices for South-East Asia and the Pacific; United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific; Faculty of Law, Thammasat University in Thailand; Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP); Asian Research Institute for Environmental Law (ARIEL), Asia Pacific Network of Environmental Defenders (APNED); Diplomacy Training Program (DTP); EarthRights International; and FORUM-Asia.
SEI Asia Research Associates Camille Pross and Dayoon Kim will present on 25 October 2022 about the role of women environmental human rights defenders in disaster risk reduction, unpacking how their perceptions of disasters trigger actions that aim to address the root causes of the vulnerability they experience with their communities.
