What is citizen science and how does it relate to other participatory methods? (CS Co-labs discussion 1)

Researchers from SEI, the University of York and further afield joined us for the first CS Co-labs discussion session on Wednesday 9th September. We provided a general introduction to citizen science, as we understand it, and then facilitated a discussion inviting participant’s views and experiences.

  • the history and varying definitions, terminology and use of citizen science as a method;
  • similarities to, difference from, and overlap with other participatory methods; and
  • how to determine whether citizen science is the best methodology for your project.
