As a specialized agency of the United Nations, WMO is the UN system’s authoritative voice on the state and behaviour of the Earth’s atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate it produces and the resulting distribution of water resources. Mr Jarraud presented on the WMO future perspectives with special emphasis on the Global Framework for Climate Services.

Following this presentation and short Q&A session, SEI Senior Research Fellow Richard Klein presented on climate adaptation and vulnerability and SEI Senior Scientist Marisa Escobar presented on how to understand the effects of climate variability on food security and livelihoods in Latin America.
