Project

Transport Justice Modelling

Drawing on ecological-economics insights, this project develops transport modelling tools that support needs- and limits-based policymaking across different places, scales, and ways of living. We produce communication materials to support researchers both inside and outside SEI, reduce the tendency for modellers and planners to overlook social justice issues, and strengthen practitioner networks. We use the Low Emissions Analysis Platform to show how this approach works in urban transport.

Active project

2025

Transport Justice Modelling helps ensure that transport planning is equitable, inclusive, and climate-resilient. The project strengthens connections between researchers, policymakers, and local communities, elevating local voices and embedding social justice in decision-making. By applying advanced modelling tools and scenario analysis, it demonstrates practical pathways for creating fair and sustainable transport systems across diverse urban and regional contexts.
