Santiago Jaramillo Gil

Santiago Jaramillo is a Research Assistant at SEI Latin America’s Sustainable Transitions Team, where he focuses on addressing urban sustainability challenges, particularly in air quality improvement and climate action planning. With a background in civil engineering and environmental policy, he brings both technical and policy-oriented perspectives to his work.

He holds two master’s degrees: one in Water Resources from Universidad Nacional de Colombia and another in Climate, Development and Policy from the University of Sussex, focusing on climate governance in urban contexts.

Prior to joining SEI, Santiago served as an Environmental Policy Advisor at Medellín’s Local Council for four years, working on urban environmental policies and community resilience projects. Earlier in his career, he spent three years as a research assistant in the Air Quality Team of the Early Warning System of Aburrá Valley (SIATA). His professional interests lie at the intersection of environmental data analysis, policy development, and sustainable urban transitions.
