Development of the Environmental Strategy and Action Plan of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The BiH Environmental Strategy and Action Plan 2030+ will:

• provide BiH environmental authorities with strategic goals, thematic objectives and feasible actions that are clearly defined, agreed and adopted
• help to align BiH’s legal and institutional frameworks with the European Union environmental policies and procedures
• identify priorities for domestic financial allocations as well as assist BiH in accessing international financing
• raise the awareness around environmental issues among the general public and the business sector in BiH.

In the long-term, the project will contribute to the process of BiH becoming a member of the European Union. The document will also be a critical tool for relevant authorities to improve the state of the environment in BiH and improve overall citizen health and well-being for current and future generationsWhile progress has been made over the last decade in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on environmental issues, there is still scope to improve legislative frameworks and enforcement of environmental policies.
