The importance of participation of concerned actors and stakeholders in research and decision-making relating to adaptation to climate change impacts is often emphasised.

Several Swedish and international organisations and institutes have made great efforts in order to facilitate this. Mistra-SWECIA research into climate adaptation processes uses participatory methods to collect data and improve knowledge on this topic, while also contributing to the development of the methodology.
