WEAP for adaptation planning: water and climate resilience

Freshwater availability is one of the primary concerns of many countries as climate change continues to deepen water stress, increase natural disasters and degrade water supplies. The Water Evaluation and Adaptation Planning (WEAP) platform is a tool that allows users to view climate impacts on water availability and how these changes might impact the economy, human well-being and ecosystem health.

SEI’s water experts develop WEAP and train users around the world in its use, involving stakeholders in creating sustainable and adaptable solutions. WEAP can support both top-down and local adaptation initiatives, making it an inclusive tool for all levels of government and civil society.

Critical WEAP features include climate projections, policy evaluation, and integration with energy and economic analysis. These features allow users to run vulnerability assessments and create adaptation planning processes that support water conservation.
