Beyond borders: how can the EU become a leader in reducing consumption-based emissions?

Join us for an insightful event exploring how the European Union can lead the global transition to low-carbon practices by addressing the environmental impact of its consumption habits beyond its borders.

18 June 2024 at 10:00 CEST

ending at 11:30 CEST

Online only

Despite the European Union’s successes in curbing territorial emissions, our consumption habits are increasingly negatively impacting nations beyond our borders: over the past decade, the EU’s imported CO2 emissions have surpassed those associated with its exports. Projections indicate that this impact will continue to grow until 2030.

To effectively address this issue, standardized monitoring systems, coordinated efforts among member states and ensuring sustainable trade and global supply chains is essential. By leveraging its influence to drive international norms and standards, the EU can become a leader in transitioning to low-carbon practices worldwide. Join us to find out how.
