part of Citizen Science
Citizen science and adjacent participatory methods are gaining interest and are increasingly encouraged by funders. However, it can be challenging to design a project that is both inclusive and scientifically rigorous, and work with participants ethically and with sensitivity.
That’s where CS Co-labs (Collaborative Citizen Science labs) comes in. It’s a one-year project run by SEI York, creating a shared space for colleagues and others interested in using citizen science methods to access support, learn from the experience of others and explore new approaches.
If you are using citizen science methods for a research project, or thinking about the possibility, CS Co-labs can link you with experts, to help you refine your ideas or troubleshoot issues, and help you connect with peers doing similar work.
We will also set up an advisory board composed of citizen science participants, to oversee the project and ensure what we do is relevant and appropriate.
Wednesday 29 July 3036, 11:15 – 13:00, University of York
We’re launching on Wednesday 29 July and invite you to join us. The event is open to University of York staff, research students and those outside the university community.
We’ll start with a presentation about the project, with time to ask questions, and then move into informal networking over a catered lunch. You’ll also have the opportunity to help shape our plans for delivery, through interactive voting and brainstorming exercises. We’ll share a more detailed agenda nearer the time.
If you would like to attend the launch, please register using the link below. You will also have the option to sign up to our mailing list, to receive emails inviting you to future discussion sessions, sharing resources etc.
If you can’t attend the event, don’t worry! We will be running an online version of the launch in August. Use the registration form to sign up to the mailing list and we will send you details when it has been finalized.
There is no requirement to attend either of the launch events in order to participate in the subsequent CS Co-labs clinics or discussion sessions.
