From the artificial leaf to the bionic leaf

Stockholm Environment Institute, Stockholm University and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences were proud to present the Gordon Goodman Memorial Lecture 2016, ‘From the artificial leaf to the bionic leaf’, delivered by Daniel Nocera, the Patterson Rockwood Professor of Energy at Harvard University.

About professor Daniel Nocera

Professor Nocera is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading researchers in renewable energy. His group has pioneered studies of the basic mechanisms of energy conversion in biology and chemistry. The group has recently succeeded in developing a solar fuels process that uses many of the elements of photosynthesis. Professor Nocera has now translated this science into ‘the artificial leaf’. This discovery sets the stage for a storage mechanism for the distributed deployment of solar energy.

About Gordon Goodman

Professor Gordon Goodman was the founding director of the Beijer Institute of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Stockholm Environment Institute. Against the background of the unique contributions of Gordon Goodman to global environmental issues, a lecture will be held annually in his honour.
