The SEI–SU seminar series aims at strengthening the relation between SEI and SU and to create a platform from which further collaboration can develop in areas where SEI and SU have common interest regarding climate change induced transformation. The seminar series’ target audience is inclusive and not restricted to specific disciplines. We strive to de-emphasize siloed research perspectives by fostering perspectives and approaches crossing academic borders. This seminar is one iteration of hopefully many more insightful exchanges to come.
This event is open to staff, PhD students and Master students at all Departments and Centers at Stockholm University, and all Divisions & Centers at SEI.

Gökçe Mete
Research Fellow, SEI
Dr Gökçe Mete is the Head of Secretariat of the Leadership Group for the Industry Transition hosted by SEI. LeadIT explores how policy, finance and business practices in hard-to-abate industry sectors can be aligned to achieve climate neutrality consistent with Paris Agreement and the latest scientific evidence from the IPCC. At SEI, Gökçe leads a new initiative on co-creating evidence for oil and gas transitions in the North Sea, with specific focus on just transitions, technology relatedness, hydrogen, CCUS and offshore wind. Gökçe has a decade of regulatory analysis, project development and stakeholder management experience focused on energy and industry transitions. She is also the Head of Research and Academic Engagement of the “Women in Energy, Climate and Sustainability Foundation” and Founding Member of the Women in Green Hydrogen Network.

Tim Bartley
Senior Lecturer, Stockholm University
Tim Bartley is an organizational, political, and economic sociologist with particular interests in transnational governance of labor and the environment. Much of his work examines the prospects for corporate accountability, sustainability, and environmental justice in global production networks. His recent work includes Rules without Rights: Land, Labor, and Private Authority in the Global Economy (Oxford University Press, 2018, winner of the Sprout Award from the Environmental Studies Section of the International Studies Association), “Transnational Corporations and Global Governance” (Annual Review of Sociology, 2019), “Territory, Private Authority, and Rights: The Place of Land Rights in Sustainable Agriculture and Forest Certification” (Oxford Handbook of Comparative Environmental Politics, forthcoming), and “Transnational Governance and the Re-Centered State: Sustainability or Legality?” (Regulation & Governance, 2014). Prior to coming to Stockholm University in the fall of 2021, he has been on the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis, Ohio State University, and Indiana University.
