Innovative and sustainable tourism: insights for advancing the sociobioeconomy of the Amazon

The event is structured in three parts: 

1. Case presentations

• Sustainable Business Models in Colombia: A national incubation and acceleration program supporting entrepreneurs and enterprises from 10 departments in Colombia—highlighting those from the Amazon—who are integrating sustainability, innovation, and technology into their business models. 

• Living Lab of Sustainable Tourism in Puerto Nariño, Colombia: A case of co-creation with indigenous communities, applying a Design Thinking and value chain approach to promote sustainable tourism rooted in culture, biodiversity, and local knowledge. 

• Peruvian and Brazilian Case Studies: Additional community-based tourism experiences from across the Amazon Basin will be presented, with emphasis on local entrepreneurship, bioeconomy value chains, and cultural innovation. 

2. Panel discussion

A moderated panel bringing together experts, community leaders, and entrepreneurs to discuss opportunities, challenges, and the enabling conditions for scaling sustainable and inclusive tourism models in Amazonia. 

3. Interactive segment with the audience 

Audience members will be invited to ask questions and share reflections, fostering collective learning and cross-regional dialogue.
