What will the success of the SDGs look like in 2030? This event will offer an informal space in the framework of the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) for decision-makers, scientists, and other stakeholders to exchange views on potential strategies to ensure the acceleration of SDG implementation is as evidence-based, strategic, and effective as possible.

The most recent review of scientific evidence shows the political impact of the SDGs has been limited. The 2019 Global Sustainable Development Report (GSDR) came to a similar conclusion and the upcoming 2023 GSDR is not expected to paint a better picture.
In terms of SDG implementation that has successfully worked, there is surprisingly little science-based evaluation of the conditions for actions to be effective and why they have worked in a specific context, be it national, local, regional, or sectoral.
The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), The International Science Council (ISC), and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) have partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) to bring tougher high-level experts for an invitation-only event aiming to facilitate discussion and share insights on strategies for accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event, intended for decision-makers, scientists, and other stakeholders, will feature notable findings and tools that can support evidence-based decision-making for the SDGs. It will showcase important scientific findings, methodologies, and tools that can help support evidence-based decision-making for the SDGs. These insights will also aim to inform the upcoming 2023 SDG Summit and the 2024 Summit of the Future.
This event is by invitation only. If you would like to attend in person please contact Lauren Barredo ([email protected]) from Sustainable Development Solutions Network
