Natalia Ortiz

Natalia Ortiz is the Senior Communications Officer at SEI Latin America, where she leads strategic communications to increase the visibility, influence and impact of the centre’s research across Latin America. She works closely with researchers, partners and donors to translate complex evidence into compelling narratives that inform policy, engage stakeholders and support sustainable development.

Natalia holds a bachelor’s degree in Corporate Communications from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Colombia) and a postgraduate degree in Peace and Conflict Communications from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Innovation at Universidad EAN, further strengthening her expertise in innovation, strategic leadership and organizational transformation.

With more than 12 years of professional experience, Natalia has worked across the private, international development and non-profit sectors. Before joining SEI, she managed strategic communications and public relations for organizations including Microsoft Colombia and contributed to a USAID-funded post-conflict programme, where she developed communication strategies and storytelling products highlighting peacebuilding initiatives and the implementation of the Havana Peace Agreement in conflict-affected regions of Colombia.

Her expertise includes strategic communications, science communication, stakeholder engagement, media relations, digital content strategy, storytelling and knowledge translation. She has extensive experience communicating complex topics related to climate change, sustainable finance, energy transition, environmental governance and international development for diverse audiences in both English and Spanish.

Natalia is passionate about using strategic communications to bridge the gap between research, policy and society, helping scientific evidence reach decision-makers and contribute to more sustainable and equitable development.
