Camilo González

Research Associate

SEI LA

Camilo is a Research Associate at SEI Latin America, where he contributes to research and applied projects focused on water management, climate adaptation, and decision-making under uncertainty. Within the water team, he supports the design, implementation, and visualization of decision-support tools, combining hydrological and socio-economic modeling, spatial analysis, and interactive approaches to inform planning processes and policy dialogue.

He has strong expertise in hydrological modeling using WEAP, and in the development of interactive tools and dashboards for water resources planning using R, Python, and Power BI. His work increasingly integrates Serious Games as participatory tools to support stakeholder engagement and the co-production of knowledge. He also explores the use of AI and data-driven methods to enhance data processing, scenario analysis, and decision support.

Camilo holds a BSc in Civil Engineering from the Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería Julio Garavito (ECI) and a double MSc degree in Water Science and Engineering (Hydroinformatics) from IHE Delft – Institute for Water Education (UNESCO, the Netherlands), and in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Hydraulic Resources and Environment from ECI.

His research interests revolve around the design of open-access, user-friendly tools that bring together the multiple dimensions influencing water systems. A central focus of his work is transforming complex data and model results into simple, actionable insights, enabling better dialogue, decision-making, and impact across diverse contexts and territories.
