Javan Odenyo

Javan Odenyo is a Research Associate in the Energy and Climate Change Program at SEI Africa. He is interested in decarbonization through renewable energy integration and policy frameworks for a just energy transition in Africa.

Javan is an energy and climate policy specialist with experience in air quality and energy modelling, decentralized energy planning, sustainable mobility and the nexus between climate, energy, and development. He has worked in policy analysis, technical research, and stakeholder engagement.

He has over seven years of experience in applied research, policy development, and project coordination across Kenya and the region. Before joining SEI, he served as a Program Officer at the Council of Governors, where he supported national–county collaboration on energy and infrastructure. He has also contributed to clean energy policy and planning efforts through roles at UNDP and SEI Africa.

Javan holds an MSc in Energy Management from the University of Nairobi and a BEng. Chemical and Process Engineering from Moi University, Eldoret.
