SEI Tallinn monitors litter on the Pirita River, analyses the results, and compiles reports. The monitoring will be conducted in the autumn of 2024, in the spring and autumn of 2025, and in the spring and autumn of 2026.

River litter monitoring aims to assess the composition and quantity of litter in the river. This allows us to gain an overview of the litter that reaches the sea and assess the changes in its composition over time. The results of river litter monitoring provide input for the design and implementation of new measures to combat the generation of river and marine litter. The monitoring results will also contribute to preparing the Tallinn Waste Plan for the new period.

This research was commissioned by the City of Tallinn’s Strategic Management Office.
