The paper synthesizes results generated in the Tri-National de la Sangha landscape. The main objective of this assessment is to analyze current vulnerability of local communities to changes in climate in the context of multiple stresses and development processes in the sites. This assessment provides a basis for the evaluation of possible adaptation strategies that can be synergistic with mitigation efforts in the Congo Basin.

The analysis explores different dimensions of vulnerability to study past trends and current conditions. The results will inform the second phase of COBAM, which will focus on scenario analysis to explore future vulnerability and potential climate change adaptation options. In this regard, the assessment is a first step in identifying opportunities in the Congo Basin landscapes for the implementation of pilot actions that take advantage of co-benefits between adaptation and mitigation.
