Damaged village after tsunami

It is of vital importance for Myanmar that sufficient humanitarian assistance is allowed into the country to ensure the survival of millions affected people in the disaster zone. Important lessons on how to build more resilient coastal communities have been learnt by other countries recently affected by coastal hazards and it is crucial that these messages are borne in mind as people in Myanmar begin to turn their attention to longer term rehabilitation and resilience-building.
