Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is a part of India’s and the G20 countries’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) vision. The objective of CSA is to optimize a country’s agricultural productivity, resilience and emissions in response to climate change using real-time, localized information.
This brief describes how digital platforms can take advantage of the wealth of on-the-ground data to support farmers in India and beyond. By formalizing the use of digital CSA, G20 countries can pave the way toward achieving economic and food security globally. The G20 must convene a committee to formulate a systemic agenda for systematic research, policies, and practices for the digitalization of CSA, authors argue.
