In the Mekong Region, in the context of climate change and the future socioeconomic development of the region, it is essential to pursue more effective and holistic flood risk management to maximize the benefits that seasonal flooding brings while also limiting the negative impacts of flood disasters.

This brief presents the key findings and recommendations of a review of the literature that seeks to understand the current state of scientific knowledge relevant to flood risk management and governance in the Mekong Region, with the purpose of identifying gaps and potential future research areas.
