The Swedish Institute of International Affairs, Mistra Geopolitics and Linköping University is hosting a launch seminar on the future of UN climate diplomacy. Sweden’s climate ambassador Mattias Frumerie, Richard Klein, and Björn-Ola Linnér, Professor at Linköping University and Co-Director of Mistra Geopolitics and authors, will present a new Mistra Geopolitics report on the future of the UN climate diplomacy.
With the Paris Agreement’s long-term objectives in place, efforts must shift towards implementation. As highlighted in the latest IPCC synthesis report, achieving the Paris Agreement goals will require systemic transformations in all sectors.
In this seminar, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities of current international climate cooperation and the potential reforms needed to achieve transformative global climate action. The seminar will include a presentation of a report on the future of the UNFCCC, as well as a broader discussion regarding how to strengthen international climate cooperation.
This launch event is hosted by the Mistra Geopolitics research programme, Linköping University and the Swedish Institute of International Affairs.
