In accordance with the MLC (Mekong-Lancang Cooperation) Leaders’ decision to promote public awareness of the MLC, activities under MLC Week have been organized annually around 23 March, marking the convening of the First MLC Leaders’ Meeting. The year 2026 holds special significance, as 23 March 2026 marks the official 10th anniversary of the establishment of the MLC.
Against this backdrop, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand is organizing MLC Week 2026 as both a commemorative and forward-looking platform, reflecting on a decade of achievements while helping to shape cooperation priorities for the next phase of the MLC. The event will place particular emphasis on environmental and water-related cooperation, areas in which the MLC has delivered tangible results and where continued collaboration is urgently needed. The focus would be further placed on the importance of empowering people and building resilience, particularly for communities most affected by transboundary environmental challenges.
The event aims to raise awareness of MLC’s mandate while showcasing its concrete achievements to date.
As part of MLC 10th anniversary collaboration dialogue, SEI Asia will be leading two panel discussions with integrated digital interactive engagement on “A Golden Decade of MLC: Future Directions for Advancing Cooperation for a Resilient and Innovative Mekong-Lancang Region” and on “Mekong-Lancang for Youth Leadership: Empowering the Next Decade of Cooperation” at 10:00-11:45am.
This event will be live streamed on Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Facebook page.
