Julia Jokiaho

Julia Jokiaho is a Research Associate within the Cities, Communities, and Consumption Team, a part of the Division for Climate, Societies, and Policy Support at SEI Headquarters in Stockholm.  

Her primary research areas revolve around urban governance, including citizen engagement, examining the dynamic relationship between elected officials and civil servants, analyzing interactions within municipal functions and the business sector, and evaluating the impact of multilevel governance on local municipalities. 

Before joining SEI, Julia worked in various municipal governments across Sweden as a strategic planner. In this role, she was responsible for proposing strategic options for municipalities, re-evaluating proposals, and providing a foundation for policy decisions. 

Julia holds an M.Sc. in Political Science from Uppsala University and a B.Sc. in Social and Economic Geography, also from Uppsala University.
