Research Fellow

SEI

Nilo Lima is a Research Fellow in the Water Team at Stockholm Environment Institute in Bogotá, Colombia. His work focuses on mountain hydrology and water systems modeling. His research addresses the role of snow and ice melt in the hydrology of Andean watersheds, as well as the hydrological dynamics of high-altitude lakes, hydrological memory, and storage processes that modulate hydrologic responses to climate variability and extreme events.

He has more than ten years of experience in the development of water system models using the Water Evaluation and Adaptation Planning (WEAP) platform in watersheds across Bolivia, Colombia, Panama, and Argentina, with approaches oriented toward water resources planning, sustainable water management, and climate change adaptation. A significant part of his research has focused on Lake Titicaca, particularly on understanding its hydrological dynamics and evaluating water release management strategies to mitigate drought and flood risks.

Nilo Lima holds a PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences from Université Grenoble Alpes, France.
