Project

Visual storytelling to rethink spatial justice through equity on the move

Using a visual storytelling approach, this project documents everyday mobility practices and infrastructure use in Tallinn and Bangkok, revealing local issues and showcasing good practices in planning and design.

Active project

2025–2026

Building on insights from the earlier cross-centre project “15-Minute Cities as Social-Ecological Transformation”, this project expands the scope from literature review to fieldwork, exploring transport equity through the lens of spatial (in)justice. Using a visual storytelling approach, the project documents everyday mobility practices and infrastructure use in Tallinn and Bangkok, revealing local issues and showcasing good practices in planning and design. The project will also develop a pan-SEI expandable photo bank to support SEI’s transport and mobility research and communications with authentic, place-based evidence. These outputs aim to reframe spatial justice challenges in transport, strengthen cross-centre collaboration, and inspire more inclusive and equitable urban mobility narratives.

The aim of the project is:

  • to explore transport equity through the lens of spatial (in)justice;
  • to develop a pan-SEI expandable photo bank on transportation and mobility to support future research and communications;
  • to produce a photo story based on Tallinn and Bangkok, illustrating different transportation and spatial issues.
