Natascha Ng

Research Associate

Natascha Ng is a design researcher working on co-production and capacity development in the DIRECTED project. Natascha employs Systems thinking, design mapping, and creative methods – along with community-organizing methodologies – to facilitate co-design for transitions.

She holds a BA from Cardiff University and an MA / MEng in Global Collaborative Design Practice from the dual award masters program offered by the University of the Arts London (UAL) and the Kyoto Institute of Technology (KIT).  Her research on design and participatory action explored how the Borough of Sanctuary initiative can create cultural belonging and exchange to help build psychological resilience to solastalgia. This research aimed to develop a social-ecological framework for building community resilience amidst the challenges of migration and environmental distress.

Prior to joining SEI, Natascha worked as a Researcher at UAL, where she applied Design for Transitions thinking, to co-define problems and co-create pathways, for socially just and ecologically sustainable transitions. Facilitating partnerships between UAL and Citizens UK, Natascha has successfully led creative campaigns, programs, and research initiatives, achieving lasting impact through the strong relationships and partnerships built.

Driven by a passion for collaboration, Natascha is committed to creating spaces where trust, care, and respect guide the co-design of social innovations. She believes in the power of design as a tool for fostering collective action and meaningful social change.
