From forest to market: unlocking Amazonian value chains through innovation and impact entrepreneurship

Bringing together representatives from IKEA (private sector), SEI (Stockholm Environment Institute – research and policy), NeSst (impact investment NGO), and an entrepreneur, the session will:

• Highlight successful models of bioeconomy entrepreneurship that generate income while preserving biodiversity and traditional knowledge.
• Discuss barriers and opportunities for scaling Amazonian value chains, including infrastructure, market access, and financing.
• Explore the role of impact investment and corporate partnerships in catalyzing innovation and supporting local entrepreneurs.
• Identify actionable pathways for aligning private sector interests with climate and social goals, especially in the lead-up to COP30 commitments.

The roundtable will be moderated by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sida, and will serve as a platform for cross-sector dialogue, knowledge exchange, and the co-creation of strategies to ensure that the Amazon’s natural wealth translates into sustainable prosperity for its communities and ecosystems.
