Cláudia is a Research Associate at SEI Latin America. She provides technical and scientific support in the implementation of strategies and projects related to water management, river basin planning and sustainable sanitation.

Cláudia has over 4 years of experience in water resources management, having worked with the implementation of water and sanitation projects financed with water use charges in the Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiaí (PCJ) river basins, Southeast Brazil. She has assisted the implementation of the European Commission’s Eco Cuencas Action on financial mechanisms, such as payment for ecosystem services, to tackle climate change in pilot river basins in Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

Prior to joining SEI, Cláudia was developing research on the contribution of natural climate solutions (agriculture and grasslands, forests and wetlands) to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Other areas of interest are climate change, food security and urban forestry.

Cláudia holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental management from the University of São Paulo – “Luiz de Queiroz” College of Agriculture, Brazil (2011-2015) and a MSc degree in water science, policy and management from the University of Oxford, UK. Her MSc thesis analyzed how water-related ecosystem services can be integrated into river basin management within the Brazilian Atlantic Forest biome.
