      Mario Cárdenas is a Research Assistant at SEI Latin America. He provides support to the center’s work on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

      His interests include socio-ecological systems analysis, resilience, rural development and planning, sustainable agriculture, collective action in socio-ecological systems and supply chain governance. He has worked with local communities towards building and increasing social capital, as well as contributing to local development plans linking ecological and economic systems sustainability to regional and national scales. He has experience working with different tools and frameworks for the analysis of sustainability in agricultural production systems with economic, social and ecological approaches and with diverse energy models.

      Before joining SEI, Mario worked as a Geospatial analyst measuring and monitoring land use cover change (LUCC) and greenhouse emissions. Mario holds a Bachelor’s degree in Ecology from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia.
