DFID Cookstoves Engagement Kenya

As part of the New Climate Economy project’s research support to the Africa Progress Report 2015, NCE agreed to support and amplify the planned outreach and communications efforts of the APR through dedicated engagement plans for each of the core papers. This project forms the basis of the engagement plan for the household energy paper, “Bringing clean, safe, affordable cooking energy to households across Africa: An agenda for action,” led by SEI.

The purpose is to engage with key policy-makers in Kenya to identify ways to overcome barriers to implementing the key recommendations outlined in the NCE/APP paper. This engagement will take place at different levels: high level, involving the inter parliamentary committee on household energy, and at the county level, building capacity among energy planners to effectively incorporate cooking energy into their energy plans.
