The scoping study provides an overview of the key manufacturing industries that are causing environmental degradation and subsequent impacts on human health in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

The analysis considers emerging, established, and declining industries within the regions, the key pollutants and pollutant pathways associated with particular manufacturing industries that have been identified as likely to result in exposure to harmful levels of pollution, and the interventions (both hard and soft) that have been developed to reduce or remediate pollutant exposure.

Finally, the study identifies key knowledge gaps and provides recommendations for future work to support a move towards sustainable manufacturing in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
