This report is based on a workshop which reviewed the state of rural electrification in four countries in East Africa and identified problems, solutions and new approaches.

Bio-electrification was focused on, in particular, as was the potential of solar, wind and hyrdro power in the production of electricity for rural areas.

The workshop explored issues in rural electrification, obstacles to addressing them and developed proposals for overcoming these.

This report provides and overview of the workshop and the topics featured in it.
