The i-FLiCAR project aims to enhance income and climate resilience of smallholder producers in Nigeria and Liberia by promoting equitable access to integrated aquaculture-agriculture systems (IAAS).

This project focuses on diversifying and intensifying production through integrated crop-livestock-fish systems, working closely with local producer organizations such as TADAN in Nigeria and NaFAA in Liberia, as well as national fisheries extension services to ensure sustainability and alignment with government priorities.
The project targets 6,000 small-scale farmers, including 40% women and 30% youth, through training and improved access to validated aquaculture technologies. Of these, 1,800 commercially oriented farmers are expected to adopt IAAS practices. By the end of the project, farm yields are projected to increase by 20% and incomes by 25%, with a strong emphasis on inclusion of women, youth, and marginalized groups in productivity gains, value addition, and market access.
Additionally, the project will support at least 30 agribusiness SMEs and enable farmers to access quality inputs and structured markets, fostering efficient, gender-responsive value chains.
Overall, i-FLiCAR seeks to deliver scalable, climate-smart agricultural solutions that improve livelihoods and resilience in smallholder systems.
