SEI launches new Consumption Compass

Join us for the launch of SEI’s Consumption Compass 2.0 – a web-based, interactive tool that illustrates and analyses the climate impact of household consumption in Sweden.

20 May 2025 at 10:00 CEST

ending at 16:45 CEST

Stockholm, Sweden and Online

Online only, Sweden

SEI research experts and representatives from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and Swedish municipalities will explore how consumption-based emissions are distributed across sectors and regions in Sweden.

Two launch events – one in English and one in Swedish – will take place online, broadcast live from SEI Headquarters in Stockholm.

About the tool

SEI’s Consumption Compass 2.0 estimates Swedes’ consumption-based emissions across nearly 110 different consumption categories and enables comparisons at various geographic levels: municipalities, regions, and Sweden’s Demographic Statistical Areas.

Developed in close collaboration with the municipalities of Kalmar and Umeå, this updated version builds on the original Consumption Compass launched in 2022.

Now fully web-integrated, the interactive tool features a time series illustrating how consumption-based emissions have evolved from 2019 to 2023. The tool is free to use and openly accessible, funded by Formas, the Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development.
