Latin America has made significant progress in implementing the SDGs, but progress in the region has been threatened by rising unemployment, inequality, poverty and hunger. The current context requires approaches that promote the effective use of resources and the identification of actions with high catalytic power, which lead to benefits. This research area proposes strategies, tools and alternatives that facilitate the planning, articulation and coherence of public policies with sustainable objectives at local, national and global levels, promoting synergies and addressing conflicts for a better execution of agendas.
Recent projects under this research area also focus on some high impact sustainability issues, such as mining, gender inclusion, mobility, migration and climate change mitigation in countries such as Honduras and Colombia.
Perspective / UN Regional Forums on Sustainable Development in 2023 have been sending a clear message: time is short; progress is less than expected.
