With active projects in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala and Perú and through the use of signature tools, this research area works with policy makers and key stakeholders to model complex water systems and explore options for sustainable, equitable and inclusive management of water resources.
This research group aims to develop innovative models and analytical tools to support decision-making in water resources planning processes with a comprehensive medium and long-term perspective considering the effects of climate change. To promote effective planning and transformative projects, the water group generates innovative participation strategies that are also inclusive and motivating in order to allow democratic access to secure water and reduce conflicts. The design and implementation of models and tools is funded in co-production process where the knowledge of scientists, institutions, consultants, communities, indigenous and other stakeholders is considered to improve the instruments for analysis, planning and management of water resources.
