SEI at the First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels

As the first global conference on planning a transition away from fossil fuels, the event is an important step in implementing the Paris Agreement and supporting equitable pathways to a fossil-free future.

SEI’s delegation will contribute across key themes, including just transitions, economic diversification in fossil-fuel-dependent regions, air quality, health, urban methane mitigation and international cooperation. The team will provide evidence-based insights to support decision-making.

The conference complements formal processes under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement, with an emphasis on practical action and international cooperation.

The event will convene governments, multilateral institutions, cities, Indigenous Peoples, civil society, academia, private sector actors and climate advocates, with a focus on ensuring the energy transition is fair and inclusive, particularly for communities that depend on fossil fuel industries.

SEI is a partner on the academic pre-conference, the Global Science & Policy Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels.
